President Letter

Dear Eastwood Elementary Families,

As your new Eastwood Elementary PTA (Parent Teacher Association) President, I warmly welcome both our returning and new families for an exciting 2018-2019 school year ahead!

I am lucky to be assuming my position alongside such a dedicated group of parents on the PTA Board this year.  Starting with a full Board and established processes from a year of experience, we feel confident in setting ambitious goals to build a stronger PTA presence at Eastwood this year.

The PTA organizes events and programs throughout the school year to benefit and supplement all Eastwood students and is dependent on membership dues and fundraising events throughout the year.  Our shared goals for this school year are to 1) strengthen our capability to fund robust educational programs, 2) unite members of our school community through well-planned and executed events, and 3) provide a collaborative platform for open dialogue amongst our parents, teachers and staff.   Through better communication regarding the benefits of PTA sponsored programs, we expect that more families will feel that membership to the PTA and participation in fundraising is a relevant and indispensable part of their Eastwood experience. In addition, we have more lead time in planning events, allowing us to cater to the diversity of our community and address the logistical needs of working parents and busy schedules.  Finally, with more frequent written communication to families regarding programs and events, we hope to reserve more time at PTA meetings to discuss what’s on parents’ minds and not as much on what needs to be done.

We encourage you to join the PTA.  Become a voting member, volunteer your time, and share your experience and talent with us.  Families, teachers, and staff are at the heart of our amazing community at Eastwood Elementary.  Family involvement at our school is vital to the success of the PTA in delivering relevant and successful programs for our children.  Small or large, your contributions are what make our school community thrive.

On behalf of the entire PTA Board, I would like to thank you in advance for all of your support and wish your family a productive and fun school year ahead.

Sincerely,

Prapti Kannan

PTA President
